Hibs cut Celtic’s allocation but can’t fill their own stands

Hibernian made the decision at the beginning of the season to cut Celtic’s allocation for this afternoon’s game at Easter Road.

The Edinburgh side cited fan behaviour and feedback from their own support for the rationale behind the move.

However, as the teams lined up, it was clear to see that the Hibs faithful had once again failed to fill their own stands.

The Famous Five stand was littered with empty seats as was the East Stand. The excuses that usually get rolled out about fans not being able to make games due to the weather, proximity to Christmas etc simply do not apply. This is Hibs’ first home game of the new season.

The rationale behind cutting the allocation appears to be little more than pandering to their support at a time where their board was under attack. The blocking off of sections in the Celtic End has no real impact other than to simply punish supporters looking to go to the games.

The Celtic fans filled their allocation, as usual, and could have filled it up many times over. The reality is that clubs in Scotland are happy to cut their nose off to spite their face – Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren all come to mind too.

  1. I am disabled n dont go (been to Parkhead once before my injury) but without firsthand experience, just the whines of a Jambo that marriwd my sister, I think the ideal is somewhere in the middle.

Dont mess up their seats or bathrooms and help fund the wee teams, we need them. If we already don’t break their chairs and bathrooms n we are just being punished because Huns cant behave in public? Let the wee teams die on their messed up principles, why should we help them if they punishing us for thr behaviour of our opppsite numbers?

Behave and get in, if we behave already then f*** them. Simples.

    • That’s a very blinkered viewpoint!
Scottish football is looked upon as a Mickey Mouse league. When you see a nationally televised game involving the champions, (the biggest club the country has ever known), versus the home team Hibernian, in only the second game of the new season, and the stadium is half empty, it doesn’t exactly sell our game! Does it? Your selfish, childish viewpoint is exactly why things are the mess it is! Too many people can’t see the bigger picture!
We are a laughing stock for a reason, and as Celtic proved in pre-season games against Manchester City and Chelsea, it’s NOT because they are so much better than we are!

  2. See all the teams that cut our tickets down the celtic fans should tell them to keep the rest of them and just boycott their grounds they’ll soon put the allocation back up
