Celtic recorded all three points with a comprehensiveĀ 4-0 win over Vale of Leithen at The Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie. Tommy McIntyre had goals Ben Summers and Joey Dawson to thank for the impressive victory as Karamoko Dembele made his return from injury.
Joey Dawson made it 1-0 after the striker made a run to the near post and managed to get some contact on a low cross, which found its way into the net. The former Scunthorpe striker, who made his debut last year, showed good predatory instincts to pounce and give the young Celts the lead.
Adam Brooks missed from the spot after Owen Moffat was fouled in the box meaning it remained 1-0 at the break. Into the second half, Summers smashed from close range in the box to make it 2-0. He was in a perfect position after a Dawson shot/cross was parried to his feet by the goalkeeper. Summers had his hat-trick shortly afterwards, taking a ball from Dawson and firing the ball into the bottom corner at the goalieās near post.
An impressive win for Celtic, even in the highlights provided, they looked sharp and playing the kind of football that Ange Postecoglou wants from his teams. It bodes well for any youngster with aspirations in the first team that they know and understand the type of football that the Australian wants to play.
