Celtic were poor as they were held to a draw by Motherwell on Saturday. The draw was compounded by the fact that Celtic missed another penalty as Luis Palma’s effort was saved by Liam Kelly. Fortunately, the slip up was not capitalised upon by Rangers, who drew at Pittodrie on Sunday, meaning that Celtic missed the chance to extend their lead.

Former Rangers youth product, Kelly made a fine stop to deny Matt O’Riley in the first half. Kelly was fortunate not to be penalised after seeming to handle the ball outside the area after skidding to claim the ball from Oh. It was the Scotland Internationalist who denied Palma but the penalty was poor and the winger had telegraphed where he was putting it.

David Turnbull netted from the spot after Mikey Johnston was hauled down by Butcher. David Dickinson spotted it and instructed VAR to award the penalty, which McLean confirmed. It appeared that Celtic had won the game only for Obika’s glanced header to rob a point from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
