Celtic put on a show yesterday at Tannadice as Ange Postecoglou’s side narrowed Rangers’ lead at the top of the Cinch Premiership. After Rangers beat struggling Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday, Celtic faced the daunting task of playing United, who are fourth in the table. However, it was a dominant performance from start to finish and hit could’ve been far more than just the 3-0.

Tom Rogic opened the scoring with a goal of the season contender. The Australian midfielder, who is reborn under Ange Postecoglou, picked up the ball on the right side of the United half before driving into the box, cutting by players before curling a left-footed effort beyond Benjamin Siegrist in the United nets.

Callum McGregor’s clipped ball found David Turnbull in the box, who’s first touch put the ball over Siegrist allowing the Scotland Internationalist to tap the ball into the empty net. Turnbull was later on the end of a shocking challenge from Calum Butcher and was lucky to escape uninjured after Don Robertson only flashed a yellow card.

It was 3-0 late on thanks to sub (and League debutant) Liam Scales. The defender arrived at the edge of the box and his left-footed effort appeared to curl away from the United goalie before the Irishman shared his adulation with the Celtic support in the Shed.

Next up for Celtic is Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday night. Whilst it is a dead rubber, it might give the manager the opportunity to rotate his squad and allow some well-earned rest.
