CELTIC were in a menacing mood as they dismissed Hibs’ challenge with a dominant 3-0 win yesterday. Goals from Callum McGregor, Albian Ajeti and Moi Elyounoussi sealed the three points for Neil Lennon’s side, but it could have been more.
McGregor gave Celtic an early lead over Hibs with a thunderous left foot effort. One week after scoring against Livi, the tenacious midfielder struck again as his rifled shot beat Marciano in the away goal. It was another cracker from CalMac, one which will please the management team and justify the tactical decision to nudge the Scottish midfielder further forward.
Ajeti benefitted when Marciano parried Elyounoissi’s shot and gave Neil Lennon’s men a 2-0 lead before being forced from the field with what appeared to be a hamstring complaint. Ryan Christie did well and appeared to be fouled in the box before the ball fell to Moi, who’s toe poked effort was saved by the goalkeeper but Ajeti made no mistake.
Elyounoussi netted his fourth goal of the season, with his first domestically of this campaign. The Norwegian attacker was the match winner on Thursday night and he grabbed the third for the Scottish Champions.
