Celtic confirm first signing of the summer transfer window

Celtic have announced Brendan Rodgers’ first signing of the summer transfer window on his return to the club. Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm has signed on a five-year-deal from Valerenga. The player completed a medical and will now join subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old will be one for the future and the hopes would be he can have a lasting impact in this Celtic team for a while. With rumours of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate perhaps courting interest from down in the English Premier League and European clubs too, Holm could be a succession plan by the club. Then again, it could just be more quality being added to the ranks as we aim to maintain our situation at home and improve in European competition.

Odin Thiago Holm signs for the Hoops on five-year deal

Celtic are delighted to announce that Odin Thiago Holm has signed on a five-year deal with the club subject to the satisfaction of usual conditions and international clearance.

The 20-year-old Norwegian central-midfielder joins from Eliteserien club Valerenga and becomes Brendan Rodgers’ first signing of the new campaign.

The manager said: “We are delighted to bring Odin to the club and to secure his signing so early in the window. He is a player who has been in the club’s scouting and recruitment system for some time.

“I have looked at him closely and believe he is someone who can make a big impact at the club. I have spent time already with Odin, he is an ambitious, exciting young player and I know he is delighted to be joining us.’

“He is a great addition to the quality squad we already have and we really look forward to working with him.”
