Idah chase is now a pantomime, time to make a move for Miovski

Pursuit of Idah is turning into a soap opera. it’s time to turn to other targets like Miovski…

The Adam Idah situation is turning into something of a soap opera, with each and every day bringing a new twist in the long drawn out saga.

Contrary to reports that surfaced late last night, no deal is in the pipelines, and the usual rags have just recycled old news by using misleading headlines.

Adam has made his intentions clear by refusing to turn out for the Canaries, an act that seen him understandably disciplined, but the Carrow Road club still refuse to budge on their stance and are holding out for what they deem a reasonable fee for the Irish international.

That fee is somewhere in the region of £7.5m – £12 million, it just depends on what social media rumour you take as gospel.

For me, I think it’s time we moved on. As good as Adam is, it’s not worth the wait or hassle that we’ve endured for the past few months. So it’s time we moved on to other targets.

One of those targets is right under our nose in Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski. The North Macedonian has been the subject of a recent failed bid by Spanish side Espanyol.

The Spaniards bid something in the region of £3 million which was immediately rebuffed by the Dons. Apparently they are looking for more than double that fee, with £6.5 million being the price that the Pittodrie side are reportedly holding out for.

If that’s the case we should nip in and offer just that. Miovski knows the league, he’s a player who would fit into our system and he is a proven goalscorer. It’s a no brainer. It’s now time to forget about Idah and pursue targets like Miovski.

You never know it might also call Norwich’s bluff and force their hand. Or maybe they do have Italian clubs queuing up to sign the Celtic target after all.

  1. Spot on! In fact, there’s no reason we can’t go out and get both players with the money we’re sitting on and the guaranteed CL millions still to come in. Ditch this one up front crap against the numerous domestic teams that just play a 10-0-0 formation against us anyway and play a fluid 3-5-2. That way, with a bit of rotation, we can give all three players game time with no real drop in quality. Also gives us quality in depth for the CL and for the increase in the overall number of games we will have to negotiate this season.

    • Idah did not refuse to play for Norwich. By all accounts he left his phone at home and was consequently late for the flight to Austria. He made his way to London and caught a late flight. He was dropped and is facing internal club discipline. We do not need our bluff calling. Adam has a long contract and if we have to replace him it will be costly. If you don’t want to pay what he is worth to us, that’s fine, move on by all means. We are happy to keep him.

      • Aye, and our dog ate my homework.

I want Idah in a Celtic shirt as much as every other hoops fan but we really have to move on if Norwich don’t want to sell/Peter won’t divvy up.

  2. Idah offers us something completely different if it’s not happening with Kyogo but mioveki is too similar to Kyogo to make that much of a difference if plan A isn’t providing goals.

  3. Celtic have been playing games trying to unsettle the player to get him on the cheap. Appalling behaviour from a club with a fine history to protect. Pay up or shut up and move on to the targets you can actually afford.

  4. They should’ve took the 3 million I don’t think he would fit in to our style of play so he would be a 6 million(my anus) bench warmer, only my opinion tho HH

  5. Depends which source is accurate. Other sources have said a deal is ‘imminent’, which to most of us would mean very soon? However, lets see if that’s the case. I think Idah is a good player, young and physically strong. Miovski also is intelligent and can put the ball in the net but hard to say who would fit in better. If norwich keep putting the price up, I would walk away. Guess we’ll have a better idea tomorrow if this is realistic or not

  6. Personally believe that Rodgers is quite prepared to play the waiting game at the moment imo?
Both idah and miovski seem of similar value at present, so thinking Rodgers would prefer idah as his choice at present?
Any signing that we make in the striker position would be looking for a place within our 25man CL squad?
Still believe that Rodgers will be opting for the 5/2 split in our attacking options, with a Maeda type of wide player who could slot into the striker position if required?
Currently using Mikey Johnston in such a role at present?
Yet no word upon the younger attacking option still?
Could we approach Liverpool and see if Ben doak might be available for a loan move back to ourselves?
Even Conway to potentially get a position filled, even if it’s not the solution for the CL squad, surely such a player has a role to play within our SPFL and cup campaigns for ourselves imo?
Seems Rodgers is prepared to give Mikey Johnston an opportunity to shine for a place within our squad, would be very surprised if such a move was going to be successful for ourselves imo?

  7. what load of tosh he did not refuse to play he missed the team flight because the numpty left his mobile phone behind , he then had to pay for his own flights to get to Austria turning up later in the day

then he was fined and left out of the friendly squad as punishment

  8. It’s only a pantomime in the heads of the media who are trying to make it one!
There’s the full month of August left in this window.
Why are the media trying to rile up the Celtic fans? More importantly, why are the Celtic fans allowing themselves to be sucked in?
Don’t take the bait from two-bit, anti-Celtic media!
Step back, take a breath, look at the recent history of success over the past 20 seasons or so, then ask yourselves, “why am I letting this lot bug me?”
We are the only big, successful, sustainable, club in Scotland.
Despite the best efforts of media, SFA, Government and legal system! (And often the stupidity of the Green Brigade), we reign supreme!
    Hail Hail
