If Juventus do want O’Riley, then it’ll be arrivederci, Matt

It’s been reported this morning that Juventus are the latest club to show a serious interest in Matt O’Riley.

The Italian giants Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has according to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport contacted Celtic to inform them of their interest in the Danish international, and has requested ‘economic’ details involved in any transfer.

Juventus were keen on signing Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, but with their Serie A rivals demanding €60 million, their interest appears to have cooled and they’ve apparently now shifted their focus onto Matt.

Atalanta themselves have recently made a bid for Matt that fell below our valuation, and were expected to come back in with an improved offer, but with Koopmeiners move to Juve looking doubtful they might just think twice.

That would leave the door open for Juve who have cash to spend and will most likely meet our valuation. If that happens then it’s most likely that we will be saying Arrivederci to Matt.

Of course we want to keep him, but realistically the offer of huge transfer windfall for the club will be too strong to turn down, and the player himself would find it hard to say no to a club as high in stature as Juventus.

Honestly, if he goes, (and I hope he doesn’t), then I couldn’t care less where he goes. The only factor for Celtic should & will be the money. It’s £35m,+. That’s the figure any suitors need to be talking before it’s considered. The next stage would then be up to O’Reilly, if Celtic accept the financials. Juventus are arguably the most corrupt team in Europe, maybe even more so than our hateful neighbours. That said, of course the pull of Serie A is greater than Scottish football, but as always in today’s game, it’s all about the money.

  2. It’s well known at this stage of what sort of money it will take to get Oreily?
Yet a sell on clause and a payment structure would have to be negotiated, even before Oreily could enter talks with any potential clubs in the making?
So no doubt that there is potentially a lot going on behind the scenes?
Yet there is also a chance that teams and agents can throw out names, just to try and please an impatient supporters base at this time of year also?
Much in the same manner that we are more than capable of doing also?
Still think that Oreily will be moving on, even if not a total certainty as of yet?
Would say that a requirement for Oreily is that any interested team for him, would have to have potentially CL football on offer for himself also imo?
Any teams that have got such a thing in place and a much stronger league and money available to Oreily, have to potentially be taken seriously imo?
