It’s been reported this morning that Juventus are the latest club to show a serious interest in Matt O’Riley.
The Italian giants Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has according to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport contacted Celtic to inform them of their interest in the Danish international, and has requested ‘economic’ details involved in any transfer.
Juventus were keen on signing Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, but with their Serie A rivals demanding €60 million, their interest appears to have cooled and they’ve apparently now shifted their focus onto Matt.
Atalanta themselves have recently made a bid for Matt that fell below our valuation, and were expected to come back in with an improved offer, but with Koopmeiners move to Juve looking doubtful they might just think twice.
That would leave the door open for Juve who have cash to spend and will most likely meet our valuation. If that happens then it’s most likely that we will be saying Arrivederci to Matt.
Of course we want to keep him, but realistically the offer of huge transfer windfall for the club will be too strong to turn down, and the player himself would find it hard to say no to a club as high in stature as Juventus.
