Alistair Johnston scored his first goal for Celtic this afternoon against St Mirren and has now officially declared on social media that it is rightfully his and as such, he will be claiming it as so. Johnston was terrific again today and really helped the team apply pressure to that packed St Mirren backline when we needed it most.

Scoring the second goal of the game for us, he rose to meet a crossed ball at the back post and managed to find the net – although there was some debate as to whether or not it was indeed his goal or it had ricocheted off the St Mirren player defending against the Canadian World Cup star.

Well, now that the game is over, Ally is claiming it all for himself, after joking in this post-match interview with Luke Shanley of Sky Sports Scotland that he was having a little conversation and laugh with the Buddies defender as to who got the last touch on the ball before it hit the net.

Neither man knew for sure, which means our right-back will be claiming that one all for himself – getting him up and running in the green and white colours of Celtic (even though it was that horrible, awful, eyesore of a grey strip we had on today!). But who cares? They all count no matter what colour of Hoops strip your wearing and it was a much needed goal at the time as we desperately tried to get our noses in front against a dogged Stephen Robinson team.

Here is Ally’s reaction to that one on Twitter:

“In case anyone was wondering – I’m claiming that goal”
