Injury boost as James Forrest set for return

Celtic have been handed an injury boost with the news that James Forrest will soon return to training. Neil Lennon confirmed today that the influential 29-year-old back should be rejoining the rest of the first team within the next week.

Speaking at the media conference today, Lennon spoke about the return of Forrest and how he was looking forward to welcoming back Forrest.

“He’s been training last week, he’s out on the grass again. We’re hoping he rejoins the training group in a week. That’ll obviously be a welcome inclusion to the squad again, he’s been sorely missed.

“You only have to look at his record and his consistency over the years. He was having a magnificent season last year before the lockdown came. He had started the season in pretty good form.

“It was a real bad injury that he got. He wasn’t really aware of the significance of it until two or three weeks after he picked the injury up. He’ll be a welcome inclusion. He’s a quality, quality player.”

The right-winger has been an integral part of the sides in the last nine years but was forced to go under the knife owing to an ankle knock at the start of the season. Celtic have missed Forrest and his return will be like a new signing for the team, even if there is only really the Scottish Cup to play for.

Whilst Forrest’s return is a boost, the fact Celtic haven’t signed a central defender or even a goalkeeper in this window suggests that the board are resigned to this season being over. The manager is still, somehow, in place despite the managerial update promised in January.

  1. For the avoidance of doubt…I am not a James Forrest fan.
Has the guy got loads of talent..? Yes he has.
Does he show it consistently ? ..Not a chance.
Every good game he gives you, is followed by 3 or 4 mediocre to poor ones…but Lenny…true to form ignores that…and the player walks back in.
For more years than I care to remember…Lenny has over-hyped Forrest to a ridiculous degree…and I see he’s at it again today….and this has done the player more harm than good.
We have too many ” stars ” in our team….who are, over the piece, bang average…and he’s one of them.
As long as Lenny’s in charge…..nothing will change.
Oh and don’t get me started on Rogic.
