JAMES FORREST looks set to spend a period of time on the sidelines as Celtic may be forced to step into the transfer market to sign a potential stand-in. The Scottish Sun is reporting that the winger will be out for longer than the Scottish Champions had hoped.
Neil Lennon had to inform Steve Clarke that the player was likely to be out beyond the Scotland matches versus Israel, Czech Republic and Slovakia. This means that Forrest is a major doubt for the match versus Rangers on October 17.
This is worrying news as Forrest is the only option on the right hand side – meaning should Celtic like to deploy Frimpong on the right in an advanced role, or bring Christie across, Neil Lennon will be forced into the transfer market for a second player (along with the needed left back).
Paddy Roberts has been widely touted as the Manchester City winger has no future with Pep Guardiola’s side meaning Celtic could sign him for a snip of the price. Frimpong has proven that he can adapt into the right wingback; however in order to play 4-3-2-1, which may be the preferred in European matches.
