Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

I’m keeping the faith, but only just, in fact I find myself sitting on the fence as far as Celtic’s title winning prospects are concerned. There’s a section of our support who have already given up on the title already, and that is understandable. There is also a section who still have belief and that is also just as understandable, but as for myself, I’m sort of in between truth be told.

I’ve never been accused of sitting on the fence when it comes to giving my opinions on all things Celtic, yet that is exactly where I find myself today. Dropping a one-time eight point lead doesn’t exactly install you with confidence, neither does watching the lacklustre displays the players have been putting in lately.

That is not the form of champions and despite them being far from a formidable side, theRangers look as if they have the momentum and confidence needed to go on and win the title and the annoying thing is it’s been given to them by our own failings. That said we are Celtic and we have come back from worse deficits in the past. We have a history of overcoming the odds and being successful. So that should give us hope, it’s all we can do after all.

We have the players, we have the know how to be successful, we have the manager, but they need to start showing that in our upcoming games if we are to prevail. I’m Keeping the faith, but just.

Drastic change is needed NOW if the title is going to be won. As the saying goes, insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results and hopefully the penny drops up at Lennoxtown.  Next up for Celtic is Motherwell away, in December during the Invincible season we found ourselves 2-0 down at Fir Park.

Brendan Rodgers changed the shape and went with a midfield diamond and we ended up winning 4-3 in one of the most dramatic games of that memorable season. History should repeat itself on Sunday.

Play the outstanding Joe Hart in goals and bring CCV back into the defence alongside maybe Lagerbielke (Scales needs a rest) and have Ralston (who got the assist at the weekend, nothing from the wingers as usual) and Taylor (for 90 mins) as the full-backs. A diamond midfield of Tomoki, McGregor, Bernardo and O’Riley and a front two of Kyogo and Idah. Have Daizen on the bench and the rest of the wingers in the stand.

Or alternative play your 4-3-3, Brendan, with two wingers who you’ll have to replace with another two who end up just as bad or even worse and then the following week you can tell yourself that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

  1. He has so many wingers to choose from but yet he doesn’t want them to do the simplest thing mainly run for the bye-line and cross the ball. Stop all this left/right right/left cutting in and back, we had great success with Jota/Daizen being direct to Kyogo in the centre last season. Managers are forever telling fans that football is simple game then they go out of their way to complicate it

    • Agree with above in that winger’s should be dropped as all four of them are a waste of a jersey currently but feel we still need width to stretch deep sitting SPL teams. My tuppenceworth, time for a 3-5-2.
The key is Ralston and Taylor on edge of 5…. both will run until they drop and although not the most technically gifted will almost certainly deliver more into the box than our wingers (e.g. Ralston on Saturday).
Back 3 CCV, Scales left and anyone of Lagerbielke, Welsh or Rocki right.
Middle three with Iwata deep (protecting back 3) and McGregor / O’Reilly further forward.
Up front Kyoto (in the box!!!) and any combo of Idah or Oh ….. or Palma (I know he’s been very poor but he might just deliver more central) depending if we need physical or technical against opposition.
Final point….. Is Forrest injured? If not he’s on the bench for the above ahead of Yang / Kuhn etc
Gotta try something or this season is over in the next five to six weeks.

  2. I wrote these facts to the Celtic Star weeks ago even quoting ” Albert Einstein’s ” definition of madness . Is this Plagiarism or purely coincidence ?
My item then did not seem to make any difference then but let’s hope second time around someone on the ” Backroom Staff ” reads this article and realises that fans on the terraces often have more Tactical “Nous” than they have .
Let’s hope they read this article and make changes now before this Season is ,”A Write-off” !!!!!!!

I have to agree with your summation of the FACTS before us .
When children aged 6 to 12 are asking WHY then you have big problems.
Why are our new players no good ?
Why does the manager not change things during a game ?
Why do many players look as if they don’t want to be playing?
Why did we not buy GOOD players when the manager ask for them ?
Why do I have to watch this rubbish EVERY week?
When our children can see the position we have put ourselves in .
Why should we ask them to go and watch a team that doesn’t seem interested?
Why not take them to see another team ?
