Jock Stein is a man who need no introduction. The Scotsman was one of the finest managers in the history of the game and without doubt the greatest in Celtic’s history.

Stein also played for Celtic in the 1950s before writing himself into Paradise folklore by leading the club to the European Cup trophy and nine in a row. He also guided Celtic to the Final of the European Cup and the Semi Finals twice, as well as winning the treble and a quintuple.

There are many famous quotes from the great man, perhaps most famously of all “football without fans is nothing.”

We are also familiar with his thoughts that the “best place to defend is on the edge of the oppositions penalty box.” However, he wasn’t always as positive as that, as this fantastic video from the BBC archives shows:

Maybe Celtic should have taken heed of that advice at the beginning of this season, before slipping behind in the title race.
