Inter Milan are reportedly considering a move for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley. The Serie A club are keen to add the dynamic midfielder this January in a deal that would be a blow to the Scottish Champions, given he has been the standout out this season.

According to Sky Sports, Inter want the player on an initial loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.

Singer arriving from MK Dons in a deal worth £1.5m, O’Riley has become a key part of the first team. Initially under Ange, O’Riley thrived but struggled to bring goals into his game. Now, Rodgers has helped improve the player and with 9 goals and 8 assists in 24 appearances this year it is clear to see why Inter are keen.

Simone Inzaghi’s side, who were beaten Champions League Finalists in June, are one of three sides interested in signing the Danish International. Aston Villa and West Ham are also cited as having an interest.

O’Riley would be a candidate to break the record transfer fee received as he recently committed to a new long term contract at the club. It feels inevitable that he will eventually move on but this move wouldn’t represent a shrewd move by the club, especially given the manager’s desire to get quality in the door.
