“It should be a great atmosphere,” Postecoglou excited for increased attendance for Dundee game

Ange Postecoglou has said that he is excited for the increased attendance at Celtic Park this weekend. 24,500 fans will make the trip to Paradise as James McPake’s Dundee provide the opposition for Postecoglou’s first league game at Celtic Park.

The manager, who oversaw his first win as manager against FK Jablonec last night, told the club website that he and the players are looking forward to the game on Sunday.

“It’s not just myself that’s looking forward to having the fans back,” said the Australian manager. “I think the players who were here last year really missed that atmosphere at Celtic Park.

“It’s the first home league game of the season and I’m sure the supporters will be up for it and it should be a great atmosphere.”

Postecoglou has made a couple of signings in recent days but he will be hoping to get a few more in the door before the end of the window. Joe Hart is likely to start on Sunday and James McCarthy might even be in line for a debut from the bench.

The club have indicated that an increased capacity crowd will be allowed into Paradise next Thursday and Sunday for the return leg against FK Jablonec and then Hearts in the League Cup. The manager wants the players to continue improving and start performing consistently across the season – starting against the Dark Blues on Sunday.

“In every game we’ve had an opportunity to win games but it’s important in the league that we pick up points consistently and there’s an opportunity there on Sunday, particularly at home, to do that.”

Celtic lost their league opener against Hearts, the first time since 1997 but we all know how that turned out in the end for Wim Jansen’s side.
