Italian press savage Celtic defence in player ratings after 4-2 defeat in Milan

CELTIC started brilliantly at the San Siro last night, scoring twice in fifteen minutes. However, for the third time in this group, Celtic have failed to defend a lead. Milan scored four goals without anger and Calciomercato.com have savaged the Celtic defence.

Vasilis Barkas cut a dejected figure, picking four of the six shots on target out of the net. He was given a 5. No one in the defence had more than 5.5 with Israeli duo Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton earning 5s with Kris Ajer and Diego Laxalt fared slightly better with 5.5s.

In terms of the midfield, Callum McGregor and Scott Brown were given a 6. Ryan Christie 7, who gave away the foul for the free kick that lead to the first Milan goal was marked highly, earning a 7. Jeremie Frimpong, who was an attacking outlet in an advanced role in Milan earned a 6.5. The pair that got Celtic on a scoring start at the San Siro – Tom Rogic and Odsonne Edouard, scored 6.5 and 7 respectively.

The subs: Olivier Ntcham – 6, Ismaila Soro – 5.5, Patryk Klimala – 5.5.

Neil Lennon will need a miracle to turn this dismal form around with Celtic having just two wins in eleven games. The board appear to be backing him for the time being but he needs en emphatic win over St Johnstone on Sunday and some proof that the defence is not a leaking ship, destined to sink.
