Ange Postecoglou has today given a positive injury update on Cameron Carter-Vickers, revealing that the Celtic central defender has now had surgery and that the operational has been a compete success with the Celtic manager stating that he expects his defensive talisman to be fit and ready to play at the start of next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, as the build-up to Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match against Hearts at Tynecastle gets underway, Ange Postecoglou was the bearer of good news on CCV.
“He’s had the surgery, he’s on his way back and it went really well and he’ll be alright for the start of the season, I’m sure,” Ange Postecoglou said.
“It’s a great boost,” the Celtic manager continued. “He was really keen to play up until last weekend. He knew how important that was in the context of our season and he’s a very important part of our set-up and our team.
“He’s been carrying that injury for quite a while and at the same time he’s never used it as an excuse for a performance. He’s just got on with things and been outstanding.
“It’s good for him because now he knows he can get himself ready for pre-season and ready to go for next year knowing he’s contributed significantly to what’s happened this year,” Postecoglou said.
With Cameron Carter-Vickers out and likely to be joined on the sidelines by Alistair Johnston after the Canadian picked up an injury in last weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over theRangers, the door opens for Yuki Kobayshi and Anthony Ralston to start against Hearts in a match where Celtic could wrap up the title.
