It was announced yesterday that Brendan Rodgers had mutually parted company with Leicester City with the midlands club anchored in the EPL relegation zone.
You can’t help but smirk. Is that Petty? No. Brendan, as we know joined the foxes just over four years ago leaving Celtic in the process at a vital part of the season. The overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters haven’t forgave him and rightly so.
Brendan worked wonders at Celtic. He gave us success that we will remember for ever. A double treble, the foundations of a treble treble. The invincible’s season, so much memories.

We will always be grateful for his achievements, he worked wonders at the club. What sticks in the throat is the way he left. We were top of the table with a healthy lead, but one that wasn’t impossible to overtake. We were going for a historic treble treble. There was a great feeling around the club. The supporters were buzzing amid anticipation of yet another treble, and then on that morning on the 26th of February 2019 it all changed.
Brendan of course decided to leave to go to Leicester. Fair enough. A decent club in a big league, but a level up form Celtic? No chance. It was down to one thing and one thing only, money. Brendan would have been on a handsome pay packet at Celtic, but most likely doubled his wages by going down south.
Thankfully the players remained focused under Neil Lennon and we clinched a historic treble treble.
Brendan said he was a Celtic man, but no true Celtic man would ditch the club at such a vital time. He had us all fooled with that charm, some had him sussed well before due to his questionable spiel.

We can’t deny he was brilliant at his job and we will be forever thankful to his efforts. He however sullied his reputation with the Celtic support and it will be forever tainted. Had he stayed on a few months and left it would have been accepted. He would have been guaranteed hero status for life at Celtic park.
Celtic supporters will have had a wry smile when they heard of Brendan’s demise, myself included. He lost all the love he had up here when he decided to take the thirty pieces of silver down south.
It was all about the land of milk and honey for Brendan, does he regret it? Most likely not. He won’t even be that bothered to have been sacked from Leicester, the severance pay will see to that. He’ll be back in the management game soon enough.
