It’s Tilio Time – Summer signing Marco must show what he brings to Celtic

If Marco Tilio can’t get a chance now perhaps he never will…

The news that Daizen Maeda is out for six weeks is a big blow indeed. Daizen has his critics but make no mistake his absence will be felt and not for the better. With Liel Abada also still out injured that means another spot will be open for a wide player.

Yang and Luis Palma will be the obvious candidates and of course James Forrest, but we will still need another fresh face in amongst those names. Step up Marco Tilio, who you may ask? None other than Celtic’s £2 million summer signing from Melbourne City.

The Aussie was highly rated when he signed but unfortunately has been carrying an injury picked up with the Socceroos shortly after he signed so we have still to see him in action.

He has played a few games with the Celtic B side but seems to have disappeared off the radar. Brendan Rodgers has mentioned that Marco needs to get up to speed with the Scottish game, that may be true, but surely he’s done that by now?

Rodgers also admitted that he didn’t know too much about the player so all he’ got to work with is what he seems at Lennoxtown and he picks his team on the basis of the best players available to him for each game. If Marco has been impressing the manager in training then there’s no reason why we won’t be seeing him shortly.

Now is the perfect time for Marco to be blooded into the squad. With injuries hampering us now is the time for him to show his worth if Brendan thinks he’s ready. If not I doubt he ever will because that’s a situation we have got used to over the years. Hopefully though not in this instance.
