“I’ve got a Siamese cat” – Neil Lennon denies he has burner account

Neil Lennon has denied tonight on the Go Radio Football Show that he has a burner social media account on Twitter. The account in question has been long thought to be Lennon or at least someone acting on his behalf as it continuously defends his Celtic record against those who decry his style of management and football.

Lennon undoubtedly achieved some wonderful feats as Celtic boss in the Parkhead hot-seat, specifically winning in European competition against some very good sides. One night in particular against FC Barcelona will live long in the memory as it was our 125th Anniversary and we emerged victorious 2-1 against arguably the greatest club side of all time.

However, at times Lennon’s football could be erratic and stale and his explosive nature could create problems. During the run towards Ten-in-a-row he stepped in admirably to get us over the line when freshly appointed manager Brendan Rodgers left mid-way through the campaign.

Despite this though, Lennon was given the job full-time in the most unprofessional of circumstances after we beat Hearts to win the 2019 Scottish Cup Final. In what seemed an act of nepotism and cronyism from Peter Lawwell and Co., the Hoops supporters were completely underwhelmed by the appointment and had reservations after his acrimonious departure from Easter Road just before he arrived at Celtic Park again.

This turned out to be true and it’s what in part led to us losing the Scottish Premiership during the 2020/21 season. His lack of self-awareness and inability to admit when he had lost the dressing room still leaves an acrid taste in the mouth of many Celtic supporters. Only time will heal this but a recognition of his own part in the failure would go a considerable way in building bridges again.

Listen to Neil Lennon deny he’s on any social media…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
