James Forrest deserves his big night, and a big crowd

James Forrest will be rewarded for his contribution to the club on Tuesday night with a testimonial match against Bilbao side Athletic Club.

It’s an honour that’s richly deserved as Jamesy has served the club well over two decades as a youth player and first team player making 467 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals as well as providing over 100 assists. James Forrest is the winner of 23 major honours, including being an integral part of the record equaling nine in a row squad and winner of five trebles.

Important goals in league games, cup finals and semi-finals and or course in European games including the Champions League, he’s played a huge role in plenty of our successes in this dominant Celtic generation. James is a club legend and deserved a capacity crowd for his testimonial match which incidentally will support two charities very close to James’ heart.

Yes James has had his critics, unfairly in my book, and sadly he still does, but they can’t argue with those stats.

Jamesy deserves a big turn out for his big night, anything less will be disappointing. With a significant amount also going to charity there is no excuses. Time to purchase a ticket if you haven’t already and turn up to give James the night he deserves. He’s more than earned it, he deserves it. It’s time to give him a fitting tribute and maybe even sing his name…
