JEREMIE FRIMPONG has been announced as Celtic’s Young Player of the Year for his remarkable breakthrough season. The Dutch youngster signed from Manchester City last summer as a development prospect; however after an injury to Hatem Abd Elhamed, Frimpong quickly established himself as a first team regular.
The 19-year-old beat club top-scorer Odsonne Edouard, Mikey Johnston and fellow defender Kris Ajer to win the fan voted accolade. Frimpong has been a revelation since his move and despite a sending off in the Betfred Cup, the right-back has been an incredible signing by Neil Lennon.
On his Instagram, the ex-City starlet thanked the fans, who voted for him. The caption read: “Thanks to all the fans that voted! This one is for you!”
Frimpong will return to training with his teammates in the next few days, initially in small groups but hopefully to build that up whilst adhering to Scottish Government guidelines. Next season is the biggest in living memory for Celtic as they attempt to win the greatest domestic accolade of 10-in-a-row.
