Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong has sent a message to  Neil Lennon, his former manager at Celtic who this morning officially resigned as the club’s manager after a disappointing season for the club.

The former Manchester City defender  was sold to the Bundesliga side on the last day of the January transfer window for a fee of around £11.5m,  giving Celtic a huge financial windfall on a player that was signed from the current English Premier League leaders for just £350k.

Frimpong was brought in as a development player but made such an impact on the training pitches at Lennoxtown that Lennon had no hesitation in bringing him into the first team and he made an impressive  debut in the 5-0 League Cup win over Partick Thistle in September 2019. The Dutch Under 21 defender picked up the Man of the Match that night an from then on became a major part of Neil Lennon’s first team squad.

Today Frimpong recognised the contribution Neil Lennon has made to his own career progression, sending the following message which reads: “Thanks for everything you did for me Gaffer! Good luck with the future”.
