Jordan Larsson has become a free agent after his contract with Spartak Moscow has been terminated earlier today, so reports none other than Fabrizio Romano who has posted this on social media:
“Swedish striker Jordan Larsson, set to leave Spartak Moscow as contract has been terminated in the last few hours. Larsson has already received some approaches as it’s an opportunity now on free transfer.”
Jordan’s connections with Celtic are strong with his father being a Celtic legend, a King of Kings even and with him growing up watching his dad achieving that well deserved legendary status before his own young eyes.
Many would reckon it would be a mistake for Jordan to attempt to follow in his dad’s footsteps by moving to Celtic and previously the transfer valuations for Jordan Larsson coming from Spartak Moscow would have placed him beyond Celtic’s reach.
Jordan Larsson will be linked with Celtic until the day he retires but I don’t ever see that happening.
The natural progression of his career is his next move being to a Big 5 league, not to Scotland.
We also can’t justify the fee required when we’ve Kyogo in that position.

However due to the problems Russian clubs are experiencing due to their country’s invasion of Ukraine, many of the overseas players are leaving on free transfers after their contracts are terminated.
Celtic, if Ange Postecoglou would be interested, could put a compelling proposal to Jordan and the cost of any such deal would be heavily subsided by the Larsson shirt sales alone!
You wonder what advice Henrik would give to his son if Celtic were one of the clubs putting proposals to the player and his advisors.
Celtic are in the market for a striker but whether today’s developments will influence the plans already in place remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out and also how the Celtic support would feel about Jordan Larsson coming to Celtic.
