Josip Juranovic appears to be holding out on a sensational move to Manchester United. The Old Trafford club are considering a new full-back with Aaron Wan Bissaka expected to move on this summer and Celtic’s No.88 has caught their attention.
As reported by the Daily Record, Juranovic is aware of the interest from Erik ten Haag’s United and is keen on keeping his options open while the Premier League club consider making an approach for the player.
The Croatian defender joined Celtic in the summer of 2021 for just £2.5m, a figure that will be dwarfed by the next fee that he leaves Glasgow for. Juranovic has been touted with moves away since January of last year, such has been the quality of his performances. The former Legia Warsaw defender has attracted interest from England and Spain and given his impressive World Cup campaign, you would expect that teams will strike up talks for the Croatian.
Juranovic has another three-and-a-half years on his deal at Celtic and, you would expect, the fee needed to prise him away from Glasgow’s East End is a realistic one. Whilst it is sore to see better players linked with exits, it is an inevitability that players will be sought after given Ange’s quality of play.
Monza and Torino are keen on the player but he will likely be keen on setting his sights at a potentially higher level, especially given that he was involved in the World Cup and Champions League. United are likely to be considering a number of players but a Premier League move would certainly suit Juranovic, as well as Celtic.
Manchester United have already over spent in the summer. They will not bid for Juranovic or if they do then it will not be more than £10M.
They are perilously close to also going on a UEFA watch list.
