Celtic full back Josip Juranovic has been touted for a surprise move to the English Premier League this summer, just one season after joining the Hoops.

Juranovic has proved a versatile and capable defender at Parkhead, and according to renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano he is expected to depart the club this summer. Despite that claim, Juranovic has insisted that he is happy at Celtic and that the decision on his future will ultimately rest with the club should any bid be received.

It’s all very much pie in the sky at the moment, but the player appears to have a level head and be in the right frame of mind to perform for the Hoops until such a time that any bid comes in. That is according to most football observers, aside from former EBT recipient Alex McLeish.

The former Rangers and Scotland manager told Football Insider:

“If he (Juranovic) is being courted at Premier League level in England, I would say that’s the best league in the world.

“That has to turn a player’s head. Juranovic has only had one season there and that’s quite a surprise to hear Premier League clubs are interested.

“If the richest clubs in the world come in, it is hard to turn them down, that’s just a fact. They just can’t match the revenue in Scotland.”

If Josip is to depart Celtic then it will take a large fee to prize him away. He is contracted to the club until 2026 and the Bhoys have Champions League money to bank this season.
