JOHN KENNEDY has confirmed that there will be a friendly game during the international break to get their fringe players some game time. The assistant manager has said that a reserve side will host Jack Ross’ Edinburgh XI in order to get some players exposure as well as keeping some players ticking over.
Speaking to The Celtic View, Kennedy confirmed that there would be no week off for the Scottish Champions. Guys like Scott Brown, Scott Bain, Jeremie Frimpong, Tom Rogic and Albian Ajeti are all remaining at Lennoxtown over international break could make an appearance along with young starlets.
“There are a lot of players away but the Reserves have a friendly against Hibs.
“Some of the younger guys will play in that and the guys who’ve been playing recently had two days off after the Motherwell game and have been working hard throughout the rest of the week.
“Again, the players are all asking to come in and work on their time off which is exactly what we want to see.
“This period gives some of them time to work on their own individual games. It’ll also give them the chance to get any knocks or niggles out of the way and then go again for the next period.”
It is reassuring to see that the players are keen to get back into training to keep themselves fit and ready for the next domestic fixture – which is against Hibs. Having strength in depth for Celtic is important this season and making sure everyone keeps themselves fit and ready to go could prove vital in May.
