It’s fair to say that most Celtic fans will not react to yesterday’s news of Kenny Miller’s retirement with much emotion. The striker brought the curtain down on a decent 24 year career, with a shocking miss from two yards being the last memory that the Celtic support have of him in action. Despite Miller’s woeful missed chance for Partick Thistle v Celtic last month, he did score against the Hoops on five occasions.
Miller crossed the Glasgow divide when he joined Celtic from Wolves in July 2006, having played for Rangers in 2001. His time at Parkhead wasn’t memorable with 11 goals in 46 appearances. Though there were two highlights in his season at Celtic. Bizzarely, Miller’s first goal for the club came in a 2-0 win against Rangers. Whilst, the attacker’s other high point with the Hoops came in the UEFA Champions League, when he bagged a brace in a superb 3-0 victory over Benfica at Celtic Park.

Kenny Miller left Celtic a league and cup double winner at the end of the season for Premier League, Derby County. Having been relegated with the lowest ever points total in Premiership history, Miller rejoined Rangers in 2008. He then had spells at Bursaspor, Cardiff City and Vancouver Whitecaps before eventually signing for the new Rangers in their second year of existence (2014).
A short tour of Scottish clubs, Livingston, Dundee and finally Partick ensued, before Miller left the stage yesterday. Whilst, an unpopular figure in the Celtic support, most recognise that Kenny Miller had a decent career. None more so than Chris Sutton:
