Kieran Tierney is reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut in order to make a return to Celtic. The Scotland Internationalist is set to leave Arsenal this summer and a fairytale return to the Scottish Champions has been touted, along with a suggested move to Newcastle United.

According to The Mirror via Record Sport, Tierney is open to a move to work under Brendan Rodgers at his boyhood club. The 26-year-old is reportedly on £110k-per-week, significantly higher than Celtic’s highest wage earner, Callum McGregor.

Although, the draw of an emotional return as well as the prospect of working under Rodgers again could open the door to a move.

Newcastle has emerged as a potential escape from The Emirates, where Mikel Arteta has taken a view on Tierney’s usefulness moving forward. A move to St James’ Park would likely make more sense given his financial package available currently at Arsenal. Newcastle are a promising and exciting team in the English game and that may sway KT, who has already won the catalogue of domestic honours in Scotland but has just a single FA Cup Winners Medal to his name.

Tierney would certainly be open to the move and you would expect if Arsenal sanction a move, they’d prefer a loan move to Celtic rather than Newcastle, owing to their direct competition with Eddie Howe’s team. It is certainly one to watch but the likelihood is that KT is a ‘pie in the sky’ type deal.
