Celtic face Kilmarnock in the Last 16 of the League Cup tomorrow. Ange Postecoglou’s team won the trophy back in February, beating Rangers whilst this is in the early stages of being Brendan Rodgers’ team. The Irishman, however, has an excellent track record in this tournament – winning three trophies in a row.

The SFA announced their appointments for referees earlier this week.

Alan Muir will referee the clash between Celtic and Derek McInnes’ Killie. Muir will be joined by Assistant Referees Frank Connor and Colin Drummond. Euan Anderson will be on Fourth Official duties. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House in Glasgow, VAR duties will be assumed by Don Robertson with assistance from Gary Hilland.

There was some controversy in one of the League Cup games earlier today when David Dickinson gave Rangers a soft penalty for an adjudged shirt tug from Kirk Broadfoot on Leon Balogun. VAR instructed Dickinson to check the screens and see for himself. As he did, he decided it was a foul and Rangers scored the resulting penalty to draw level.

Hopefully there are no dodgy decisions and the Celts can book their place in the next round of the competition.
