Kyogo Furuhashi’s winning goal in the Premier Sports Cup Final was described as Larsson-esque. The Japanese star caught the Hibs defence knapping and expertly helped the ball over the goalkeeper after it bounced through to him. The finish was exquisite.

Once the cup was won, many fans started comparing the strike to Henrik Larsson’s iconic goal in the 6-2 game. For as good as Kyogo’s match winning moment was, I felt there was no debate to be had. In my opinion, Larsson’s goal was far more difficult as he had to shrug off a defender, nutmeg another and chip the ball off the floor.

However, it’s a question that keeps getting asked in various social media chats, so I decided to test the views of the wider support. In an unscientific experiment, I put the question out to the world of Celtic Twitter and from 151 responses, 124 people agreed that Henrik’s goal was superior, whilst 27 thought Kyogo’s was better.

The results seem conclusive, though I think every Celtic fan can agree that these were two iconic moments in recent history from two outstanding players. It would be great to compare more joyful moments this season!
