Perhaps it will make fans nervous if a player acts up to force a move to your club, especially if there’s a feeling that it could happen again in a year or two once they join you.
French side Nimes were convincingly relegated last year from Ligue 1, but one of the real bright spots of their season were the performances of Algerian international Zinedine Ferhat.
He demonstrated that he belonged in Ligue 1 so it was a surprise to many when he didn’t depart in the summer, but a report from the Daily Record has indicated that he’s now trying to force his way out.
That report claims that Montpellier have shown an interest, but so are Celtic. He is still under contract until the Summer so an agreement would need to be reached with Nimes if a move was to happen now, but it’s thought that he’s told his agent to find a new club.
There do have to be character concerns when he has been temperamental and is trying to force a transfer, but he’s also a supremely skillful and talented player.
The potential interest from Celtic should also appeal to Nimes as Montpellier are a fierce local rival, to the point that away fans have been banned in that fixture recently, so it’s not going to go down well with the support if he does make the move to the Ligue 1 side.
From Celtic’s point of view he’s a right-footed winger who can score goals and create – he does have some pace, but he’s better described as skillful and he has the vision to open up a defence.
He hasn’t played a lot of football this season so he would need to build his fitness and there will be some general rustiness to shake off, but he should cost a lot of money and should thrive in a team that sees plenty of the ball like Celtic do.
