NEIL LENNON has issued supporters with a transfer update after yesterday’s 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies at Celtic Park. New Bhoy Vasilias Barkas was benched with Scott Bain being preferred in goals for the Scottish Champions.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, the manager gave an update as he looks to go into the transfer market to add some quality in key positions. Apart from the £4.5m signing of Barkas, only Moi Elyounoussi has been signed with a number of squad players departing in the summer. Still, the Irishman wants to add two or three new faces to his squad as they go for 10IAR this season.

“Maybe two or three just to add. We lost seven or eight in the close season.

“Moi was already here, so we’ve only really brought Vasilis in.

“In terms of the playing pool we’d like to add two or three more if we can.

“You can never have enough good strikers, and good defenders, and good midfield players and good goalkeepers, so we’re always looking to improve and add to what we already have which is an immense amount of talent.”

Celtic have been linked with Ivan Toney and Albian Ajeti as another striking options so the team can switch into a 3-5-2 readily. Patryk Klimala played well as a late substitute in yesterday’s game and gave the manager a lot to think about with a clinical finish.

Another central defender and a right winger would strengthen in areas that lack cover. James Forrest is the only first team winger that the club have on the right side and although Frimpong can be pushed higher up, you would miss the contribution that Forrest brings if he were to get injured. In defence too, an injury to Ajer or Jullien would mean a makeshift back four being put together with Bitton, Elhamed or Welsh being utilised.
