Fifty five years ago today Celtic became the Champions of Europe winning the European Cup Final in Lisbon against Italian giants Inter Milan with a dominant display of attacking football that no other European Cup or Champions League Final had ever seen before or since. We have written extensively about the Lisbon Lions on The Celtic Star and having published books for Willie Wallace, Tommy Gemmell, Jim Craig as well as two books on the Lisbon o we have plenty of content to share with you on the 25th May.

However before we do that we thought we could start by telling the story of both the 25th May in Lisbon and indeed the next day back at Celtic Park when the trophy reached British shores for the first time ever not with words but simply through some of our photographs, many of which are exclusive to The Celtic Star. We have so many of these that it’s practically impossible to fit into one article so we’ll punish another later this morning continuing the story of the Lisbon Lions in photos and the day they won the greatest prize right here on The Celtic Star…
