You need to shut it, Sead, criticism is part and parcel of being a Celtic player and if you don’t like it, you know where the door is…
Sead Hakšabanović caused a bit of a stir yesterday as he took to social media to express his feelings after Saturday’s poor performance against St Johnstone.
Sead said on his Instagram post ‘if they don’t see your value maybe you’re not at the right place’ fellow teammates such as Alexandro Bernebei and Rocco Vata also liked his post, causing a storm with the Celtic support, although not as the Daily Record spun it describing at as ‘civil war’. We’re just surprised that they didn’t use the cracked crest which they’ve had to shelf for a number of years now.
Some, including our Editor, reckon that Hakšabanović’s social media comment was aimed at Brendan Rodgers and the lack of game-time that has come Sean’s way since the managerial change in the summer. Maybe that’s correct but perhaps there’s an alternative explanation.
Maybe Sead was perhaps referring to the chorus of boos which preceded the final whistle on Saturday after that disappointing goalless draw with St Johnstone.
Booing in my opinion is out of order, but at the end of the day the supporters pay their money and are entitled to have their say or in this case air their frustrations. Just the same way Sead is entitled to air his opinions on social media. It’s a two way street.
To be fair to Hakšabanović, I didn’t think he was as bad as the rest of the side, he did look lively and tried his best to conjure up something when he entered the field as a substitute, but sadly for Sead he’s at the wrong club if he can’t take a bit of stick.
Yes, a draw for Celtic is seen as a failing. Our support expects a win every game we play, whether that’s St Johnstone or Real Madrid. It’s just the way it is here. You need to be tough mentally as well as talented to play at this football club. If Sead or anyone else can’t handle that they know where the door is. That’s not unfair, it’s just the reality of life at Celtic football club.
