Luis Palma has had his critics since he signed for Celtic and to be fair it’s not hard to see why. However this is the season when Luis can prove his doubters wrong…

The Honduran international started his Celtic career brightly particularly in the Champions League where he scored against both Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord while he was extremely unlucky to see a strike ruled out by VAR against Lazio.

He massively contributed to our success last season by scoring 10 goals and assisting 10 in all competitions. That’s an impressive return and you’ve got to applaud him for his contribution. Even his fiercest critics would have to agree.

He has undoubtedly ability, but he has his flaws, something you can’t have at a club like Celtic as the supporters demand perfection. Something Luis will have to learn if he’s to be a success at the club.

If you were going to pick faults in Luis’s game it would be his inability to take a man on which is a shame as he clearly has the talent.

He has a good delivery, and he can find the net, so if he can find the confidence to go take on his opponent he will become a better all round player. He’s only 24 so he has time to improve, but he’s got to start showing it on a consistent basis.

This new season is a big one for Luis. He’s got to show that he has both the ability and the mental strength to succeed at Celtic.
