THE GREEN BRIGADE finally got the chance to thank Mikael Lustig for 8 years of trophy winning at Celtic, before today’s friendly against Stade Rennais at Celtic Park.

Lustig seemed to be emotional at the Scottish Cup Final on 25 May after contributing to the 2-1 win over Hearts, notably by setting up Odsonne Edouard for his brilliant winning goal to complete a comeback and the incredible Treble Treble.

The Swedish right back remained in discussions with Celtic but must have had a good idea that the Scottish Cup Final would be his last appearance for a club that he and his family had grown to love.

With no agreement being reached Lustig finally decided to take the offer from Belgian Europa League side Gent and he posted an emotional goodbye message to the Celtic family.

The Green Brigade’s message today read “Lustig You’re the One, Thank You.”

Ideally PC Lustig and his family will be back at Celtic Park sometime this season to come onto the pitch to receive a very fond farewell cheer. He’s already committed to being back for the Ten in a Row Party. Well he was never going to miss that one was he?

As one Celtic star’s departure from the club is recognised by the support, there is a new chapter underway in the Celtic story for two new players. Both Luca Connell and Christopher Jullien made their debuts this afternoon and the Frenchman certainly understood the significance of the moment as the teams emerged.
