Manchester United are ‘in talks’ with Juventus’ Matteo Tognozzi. Tognozzi has recently been tipped as a candidate to become the Celtic Director of Football; however, our friends at Stretty News are exclusively reporting that the Old Trafford side are speaking to the Old Lady’s Chief Scout with a view to appointing him Sporting Director.

“We understand that senior officials at United are putting together an offer which they hope would see Tognozzi snub Celtic and take the reins at Old Trafford instead.

“Talks are understood to be underway, however, it has also been suggested to us that should a suitable offer be presented, Tognozzi would welcome the United sporting director’s role.”

Tognozzi was cited as being a contender for the DOF role with the Glasgow giants. According to Goal, Celtic are reportedly considering a move to make the Italian a Director of Football and drawing upon his contacts across Europe. The former International Scout for Zenit, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen has been the Scouting Manger with Juve for over three years.

Celtic are being linked with Fergal Harkin of United’s local rivals Manchester City. Harkin is the Football Partnerships Manager at City and is highly rated for his shrewd transfer network. City and Celtic have enjoyed a close relationship in recent years and Harkin is believed to be a Celtic supporter. Another name linked with David Webb, formerly of Huddersfield Town.
