Celtic have been heavily linked with Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden for quite some time, and are poised to move for the Danish under 21 star in the upcoming summer transfer window…

It’s been suggested that the club have ben spooked by the reported £14 million price tag that’s been placed on the 23 year old.
But that shouldn’t put us off a player who clearly has great quality and potential. Kvistgaarden scored a brace for Brondby in their 4-3 win over Randers FC in the Danish Super liga yesterday afternoon, to take his tally for the season to an impressive 17 in only 28 games.
With the departure of Kyogo, and Adam Idah so far failing to do enough to merit a start as the main centre-forward, it leaves us with only Daizen Maeda as our only reliable goal threat. That’s not good enough for a club of our standing, and and it goes without saying that we will need more quality up top for the challenge that next season will bring.
Kvistgaarden ticks all the boxes. He’s young, he’s talented and has huge potential. The player is starting to make a name for himself and the club really need to swoop before he’s snapped up by one of the many other clubs who are also circling him.

There were reports a while back about a release clause in Kvistgaarden’s current contract coming into play this summer. We have no idea if this is the case but the player’s agent certainly will and his job will be to get the best deal possible for his client and that involves both the financial side and the choice of club.
The smart move here is to act early and not wait and wait until the window is closing. By that time the chance to sign Kvistgaarden will most likely be gone.
