Matt O’Riley injured ten mins into Brighton bow after £30m move from Celtic

Matt O’Riley has suffered an injury just ten minutes into his Brighton debut. The former Celtic star completed a £30m switch to the Premier League during the week and was named from the start in the EFL League Cup clash against minnows Crawley Town.

Unfortunately, O’Riley was forced to be substituted with O’Mahony coming on to replace him.

O’Riley kept himself fit throughout the entirety of his stay in Glasgow. It is disappointing for Matt to have suffered an injury so shortly after agreeing to the switch. With all due respect to Crawley Town, the midfielder would have been hoping to showcase his talents with a performance on the pitch rather than worrying about the extent of his injury.

The injury comes just hours after the player was selected in the Danish National Team squad by Morten Wieghorst. O’Riley was named alongside Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the squad for game against Switzerland and Serbia.

Hopefully it is merely a precaution and the 23-year-old will be ready to line up against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
