Mark Warburton’s remarks on not having the same financial backing as Brendan Rodgers back in 2016 were not only false, but just a sly way of putting down Brendan’s accomplishments. Not directly from Warburton, but our beloved Scottish mainstream media.

With the season almost upon us they will use any opportunity to stick the boot into our club. This is just one such examples. They could have challenged Warburton’s thoughts with the facts and the undoubted truth. Like, how much was Joey Barton earning? Or Niko Kranjcar and Philip Senderos? It wasn’t for a few grand a week that’s for sure.

Or the fact that theRangers finished third that very season behind Aberdeen who paid their players a pittance compared to what was on offer at Ibrox. Money wasn’t the issue. The Rangers were quite clearly not good enough.

They could have also asked Warbs his thoughts on his achievements of winning the championship and Petrofac cup the previous season. He was managing a side who were paid more handsomely than the rest of his competitors. I bet his rival bosses that year wish they had the same financial power he enjoyed?

Those are all valid points that could have been used to argue Warburton’s claims, but that’s not our media’s narrative. Their narrative is of course to put out as much negativity about our club as they can, regardless the facts.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
