Medical booked – Alex Valle travels to Glasgow but no Celtic buy option

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Alex Valle will travel to Glasgow tomorrow ahead of a medical. The 20-year-old is set to sign for Celtic on a loan deal having agreed an extension until the summer of 2026 with Barcelona.

Taking to Twitter/X, the Italian journalist confirmed that the Spanish left back would make the trip to Glasgow ahead of his medical.

Celtic have been keen to get a deal done to bring in a left back to compete with Greg Taylor. The manager wants a number of players added in the coming days ahead of the Rangers game. Arne Engels and Mateusz Bogusz are reportedly targets for the club with the club in talks over transfers in the coming days.

Valle is highly rated at Barca but they need to trim their squad in order to register players. The player’s new deal reportedly includes a release clause of €3m but Celtic do not have a clause in their contract with Barca to buy the player.

Hopefully Valle is the first of a few quality first team players to join to bolster the squad.

  1. Brilliant! No option to buy? This can give the negative bandwagon guys something else to bitch about!
Not that they would struggle to find something of course! Maybe he parts his hair the wrong way or something. 🤷🏼‍♂️ who knows.

  2. Yes good point. We spend 1.5m on a guy with no buy option for 1 year but we could get Owen Beck for around 3m.This board doesn’t think any more than a year ahead but if you’re happy how our ST money is spent by PL and the rest of those tight fisted gits, then good for you Joe.

      • How is that as far as I am aware Brendan Rodgers likes and wants to keep Greg Taylor who has been excellent for Celtic this season. It was only ever going to be a player to cover and push GT

    • You do not know hoe much Liverpool want for Beck and whether Celtic have even gone for Beck its all paper talk. As this is but this is clearly an upgrade of Beck if it happens. We are paying his wages in Full that’s £1.5M

As with option to buy very few loans are with a option to buy and it does not mean its a bad thing

  3. Joe is obviously a Hun troll. It’s not hard to find things to complain about when the club you live and breathed for half a century is taken over by people that don’t care about thr green and white, just care about the green.

The only silver lining is that the criminals running your beloved Sevco are even worse.

  4. No deal to buy because they do not want to sell him its as easy as that. He is a decent Left Back and his contract was up next summer. They signed renewed his contract for another year – Celtic do this all the time when sending players out on loan
