Mikel Arteta makes Kieran Tierney statement, opens door for Celtic move

Mikel Arteta has not included Kieran Tierney in the Arsenal Matchday squad for their game against Nottingham Forest.

The latest call from the ex-Rangers midfielder looks as if it’s a certainty that Tierney will be moved on – with Celtic a possible destination.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano weighed in on the situation at The Emirates, confirming that the Scotland Internationalist would depart this summer.

Real Sociedad are interested with a move to the Basque side touted. Although, you’d imagine if Celtic were interested in a loan move then the player would decide upon a fairytale return to the Scottish Champions.

Tierney would tick a number of boxes offering another defensive option for Brendan Rodgers. The full-back is Scottish and club trained so would be able to be used without interference with the current squad with UEFA regulations.

Alexandro Bernabei’s long lie might cost him with Greg Taylor established as the first team left back. Tierney’s arrival would offer cover at left centre back as well as European quality on the left. The player enjoyed a fine relationship with Rodgers and a reunion could help him rekindle his career.

It is certainly one to keep an eye on.
