Mikey Johnston has reportedly said his goodbyes to his Celtic teammates after West Brom made a £3m bid. The Irish Internationalist has been the subject of interest from Burnley and Sheffield United over the last few days but now, West Brom have made a bid for the player meaning that there are three bids on the table for the player.
According to Sun Sport, Johnston has said his goodbyes to his Celtic teammates as he prepares to weigh up where he plays his football.
Burnley and West Brom have offered £3m for the player and it appears that personal terms have been agreed between Johnston and the clubs, leaving only his decision on where to go next.
Celtic have been attempting to take Sheffield United’s Auston Trusty in a £5.5m deal and you would hope that the Blades would not been too bitter if Johnston decides against moving to the Yorkshire club.
Johnston was subbed off minutes after being subbed on in the win against Hibs at Easter Rd. The attacker took a punch to the face while trying to header the ball towards goal. The injury set Johnston back but now he’s close to sealing a permanent exit from Celtic.
So another homegrown player to find now?
Are we going to be looking to get 3 Scottish players in now, in 2 days to fulfill our requirements within a 25man squad?
Seems very easy for ourselves to offload players during this window, yet can’t attract them?
Some seriously piss poor planning has gone into this shambles of a transfer window to date?
And you won’t get trusty from us blades either lol
Strange one this one – Celtic sources adamant Johnstone is going to Sheffield united and Trusty the opposite way. Yet funnily enough no mention of either deal from the Sheffield united end – not even a sniff of it from the club. To be honest never heard of him but apparently did well at west brom last season on loan. However if he’s struggling to get a game in the Scottish prem I can’t see how he plays regularly in the championship which is decidedly a step up in quality. Quite a few players who didn’t make it in the championship have gone the other way into the SPL and been successful particularly via Sheffield united, carter Vickers, Montgomery, stokes, burke, kazim-richards to name a few but I’m struggling to think of many who have successfully moved the opposite way into the championship. We shall see.
