Millwall confirm signature of Daniel Kelly from Celtic

Millwall have confirmed the signing of Daniel Kelly from Celtic. The midfielder signed a pre-contract deal with the EFL Championship side earlier this summer, which would see him move to London in January. Although, Celtic were clear to make some money out of the player and a £400k fee was agreed to ship the player out this month.

Celtic had offered Kelly a long-term deal with Brendan Rodgers describing it as a good contract offer for a player at his stage. The Irishman wanted to bed the youngster into the first team and develop him.

The youngster appears to have taken the decision to move away in the hunt of first team football despite being introduced to the first team last year under Rodgers. Kelly made 6 first team appearances for Celtic, scoring once, but it feels as if the player will come to regret this decision. There was obviously a talented player there and fans saw him as being a long-term prospect but the player and his agent appear to have pushed a deal to take him away from the Scottish Champions.
