EARLIER this morning, we told you that Aaron Hickey was a target for Celtic and that The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath claimed that the Scottish Champions had won the race for the highly promising left back.
However, the Daily Record’s Ross Pilcher took to Twitter to say that the Jambos have not yet received a bid for the starlet.
Celtic have been in the market for a new full back after the behaviour of Bolingoli resulted in two games being postponed, resulting in Celtic falling behind Hibs and Rangers. Now with just Greg Taylor as the club’s only option at left back, Neil Lennon will need to look to the transfer market to find reinforcements.
Earlier this month, Craig Levein revealed that Celtic tried to sign Aaron Hickey ‘five or six times’ during his tenure as boss at Tynecastle. Hickey has one year remaining on his deal at the Scottish Championship club but they could be forced to sell so they do not lose out on a big transfer fee for the left back.
Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, Levein said that the Scottish Champions have tried numerous times to buy back the 18-year-old in recent times only to be given the knock back by the Jambos.
“Celtic tried to buy him back half-a-dozen times and that just got knocked back.
“Celtic tried to buy him back while he was in the first team, I think it was five or six times.”
