Most Scottish hacks hide behind so-called Diddy teams rather than tell us the truth

No Celtic or theRangers supporters in the Scottish media, surely not?…

The mainstream media in Scotland is biased, or pro (the)Rangers, to suggest anything else is ridiculous. It’s been like that for the past eleven years, and decades before where it concerned the now departed Rangers FC.

Even the most staunchest bluenose knows this deep down, no matter what delusion they try to kid both themselves and everyone else with. Just look at BBC Scotland, it has more ex Ibrox players working there than Ibrox itself. It’s the same with most other popular media outlets.

What more bothers me is the lengths that the presenters or hacks, who’ve never played the game and have no affiliation with any side, well not publicly anyway, go to hide their love for one of the big two.

Yes I suggest us too as it would be naive and deluded to say that no-one in the SMSM was of a Celtic persuasion. Of course there is, but they will undeniably be vastly out-numbered in terms of their rival supporters. That’s a given.

For instance, wee Gordon Duncan from Clyde 1 professes to be a Motherwell supporter. The bold Chick young is famously a lover of the Paisley Saints, same as Bill Leckie. Gordon Waddle of the Sunday Mail is a Falkirk fan.

The bold Jabba, remember him? He liked to think of himself of an Airdrie supporter. Poor Jim. Imagine supporting two sides who perished through liquidation. Maybe that’s why he was so bitter and twisted. Dougie Donnelly is apparently Clyde’s biggest fan and Rob McLean is a fervent Ross County supporter.

What no Celtic or theRangers supporters present in the media pack? Aye ok, of course there is. Fair play to Kenny Macintyre who these days presents Sportsound and is open about supporting both Ibrox clubs in his time and his predecessor Richard Gordon was also a confirmed Aberdeen fan – and no-one held that against him! We know Tam Cowan is a Motherwell supporter, fair enough.

I ask you this, have you ever worked in a workplace in the West of Scotland, where there is a total absence of Celtic and Rangers/theRangers supporters? Of course not. I rest my case. The media men are much like our referees and hide behind being a supporter of the so called ‘diddy’ teams. Man up and tell us who you really support.

Maybe we’ll respect you more. Or then again maybe not.

I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

  1. Aye, totally impartial biggest fan of Clyde Dougie Donnelly was asked to be part of Ally McCoist’s testimonial committee and thus went on a celebratory jaunt to the states with most of the hun squad, singing karaoke side by side with his…erm, “work associates”?

The huns and by extension their masonic friends are an absolute disease, pernicious and corrupting, that needs to be eradicated for the good of Scotland. When 2.0 goes baps-vertical there should be no allowing a 3.0.

    • P.S. the boy Liam McLeod who commentates on matches on Sportscene is a definitely not a hun but a Don, I’ve had it confirmed from old school chums of his i know who still meet up with him occasionally. (I always think he has more of a soft spot for us than the rancid mob in blue, but that might just be in my head…)
