NEIL LENNON has given Celtic supporters a welcome transfer update by confirming that the club will enter discussions with Southampton for the return of Moi Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster ahead of Celtic’s historic 10-in-a-row push.
The Celtic manager was at Paradise today discussing his side’s return to training and both players were pictured sparking rumours that a deal had been agreed. However, as reported by the Daily Record, Lennon cooled any speculation that a deal had been agreed but confirmed that negotiations would take place.
“They are two players we would dearly love to have for next season.
“But we just have to wait and see. They are not our players. We will see how negotiations go. It’s good to see them back and involved and it would give us continuity if we could get those two in.”
It is expected that the Saints will want to sell both the players ahead of a summer of rebuilding for the St Mary’s club; although, it would mean that Celtic would have to commit a sizeable fee to prise away the players.
Forster was exceptional last year with some brilliant performances across all competitions and will surely be at the top of Neil Lennon’s transfer wishlist. His league cup winning performance will live long in the memory and proves that he has the ability to influence and dictate games. Similarly, in his 20 games, Elyounoussi made an impact with the Celtic support and following Scott Sinclair’s exit, the club are short on that left side.
A deal for both players would be massive boost ahead of next season and should Celtic manage to, it would be a huge statement of intent ahead of an attempt to make Scottish footballing history.
