One facetious Celtic fan on Clyde1 Superscoreboard last night burned the new Ibrox club in a brutal dig. The chap in question was taking part in the nightly ‘Beat the Pundit’ quiz, hosted by Gordon Duncan. Usually, the quiz takes place without any fuss or controversy – that was not the case last night.

As we all know, Rangers Football Club 1872 died in 2012, when the club could no longer afford to stay afloat due to financial difficulties. That club was then liquidated and a new one founded by Englishman, Charles Green. The media in this country have of course made the specious claim that it is still the same entity, regardless of the facts that reveal an alternative truth.

Once again we are faced with an inconvenient truth for those at Ibrox, their fanbase, and the rest of the Scottish football hemisphere: Sevco is a new club which started in the bottom division of the league pyramid nearly a decade ago. Since then, they have not won any Scottish Cups which means they haven’t won any in their entire history.

However, this question was put to a rather cheeky Celtic fan on last night’s Clyde1 phone-in show. Gordon Duncan asked the fellow on the end of the phone: “In which year did *Rangers last win the Scottish Cup?”, to which the punter replied: “Never!”. Ouch! that’s gotta hurt certain people out there still living in an alternative universe.

To that man on the radio last night, I raise a glass sir!

Top stuff.

Have a listen…
